Miss Sohee Haute Couture Spring–Summer 2025 Show Notes
I wanted to usher in a bold new chapter in my journey. This collection is a celebration of contrasts — juxtaposing the provocative allure of daring inspirations such as BDSM with classically feminine details, including intricate floral embroidery and delicate Chantilly lace. The influence of BDSM is reflected in elements that evoke both restraint and liberation, exploring themes of vulnerability and strength through structured silhouettes and bold, tactile textures. Certain looks strike a balance between the sensual fluidity of bias-cut silk and the architectural elegance of corsetry and crinolines, resulting in designs that feel at once audacious and enduring.
My palette embodies a delicate harmony of soft, romantic hues contrasted with bold, dramatic jet-black accents. The bridal look, in particular, is envisioned as a pearl within its shell — ethereal, pristine, precious and pure — reflecting my vision of couture for the modern bride.
The art of couture lies in transcending the boundary between fashion and art. In this collection, leather emerges as a sculptural medium, crafted with precision and artistry. One design features crocodile-embossed leather sculpted into petal-like forms that spiral gracefully from the hips of a corset. Another highlights a delicate reimagining of the silhouettes, shapes and themes from my inaugural collection. This renewed expression moves with poetic clarity, balancing delicacy and strength to reflect my evolving narrative.
At the core of the collection lies a belief in the transformative power of couture as an art form. Chantilly lace envelops the faces and bodies of the models, drawing a mysterious gaze towards the garments themselves. As a woman designing couture for women, I share an intimate connection with the female form, honouring its boundless diversity and inviting those who wear my creations to embrace their own elegance and strength.
Craftsmanship and heritage lie at the heart of my work, and I am deeply honoured to collaborate with master artisans in South Korea. This season, I have woven the ancient art of najeonchilgi — the intricate Korean technique of inlaying mother-of-pearl into lacquerware — into my designs. Entire bodices and accessories are adorned with this exquisite craft, featuring delicate depictions of traditional Korean flora and fauna. Traditional folk art inspires intricate embroidery, where Swarovski crystals and beads replace paint, transforming fabric into luminous canvases. I have reimagined the voluminous skirts of the hanbok with cascading layers of organza and tulle, while corsets adorned with delicate cloud motifs evoke the refined elegance of Korea’s historical dynasties. Headpieces, reminiscent of those worn by Korean empresses, imbue the collection with a deep reverence for cultural heritage.
This journey is not only about preserving tradition but also about fostering innovation and establishing a meaningful presence. In line with this vision, I am proud to collaborate with Hyosung Group, a leader in environmentally conscious materials. Through this partnership, I aim to incorporate innovative materials into future collections, supporting the continued evolution of my designs while remaining true to my ethos.
